Whilst cupping therapy has no major side effect and is a traditional technique that has been used for many centuries, there may be some side effects that you should know about and understand.

One  should understand and accept the possibility that there might be marks left on your body that may last between a few weeks and several months, before one decides to undergo cupping therapy.

These marks might have the appearance of circular bruises or discolorations where the cups were applied. There may be discomfort due to the method of skin cuts to the patient. You may feel worse , for  few days following treatment and an increase in pain in certain areas of your body , as it adjusts and recovers.

Other possible side effects include light headedness , which may be similar to the sensation one feels after having had blood taken by a doctor.  As cupping therapy encourages blood flow to the cupped region (hyperaemia) ,one may therefore feel warmer and hotter as a result of vasodilatation ( widening of blood vessels ) taking place and slight sweating may occur.

There is a sound scientific rationale for this and there is no cause to concern.

Don’t book a treatment if you have any of the following:

• Age below 18
• Taking medications ( blood thinners ) like Warfarin , Dabigatran etc.
• Hepatitis of any type. HIV aids, Ebola ,Cancer last stage (3+)
• High Anaemia
• Dialysis
• Sever dementia
• Organ failure of any kind
• Tuberculosis
• Any terminal illness
