Mobile Wet Cupping (Hijama)
for Men

Hijama is a prophetically prescribed ( by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ) medical procedure known to heal a variety of ailments. Wet cupping is similar to the dry cupping therapy performed in China but with additional minor surgical procedure allowing some blood to come out . Widely practised in Muslim countries.

The treatment involves a negative pressure, suction , applied by a cup to draw toxins to the surface of the skin, then applying small, superficial scratches to excrete the toxins out of the body. It removes blood and tissue fluids mixed with potentially harmful substances.

Therapeutic benefits of Hijama cupping is not related to the amount of blood drawn but to the amount of excreted toxins. This could be even from the first few drops that leave the body.

Hijama is used to treat some of the following conditions and many more:

  • Body , back pain
  • Sciatic pain
  • Hypertension ( High blood pressure )
  • Abdominal pain
  • Immune system deficiency
  • Poor blood circulation
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • chronic coughs & lung diseases

Patient Information , Advisory and Consent

Whilst cupping therapy has no major side effect and is a traditional technique that has been used for many centuries, there may be some side effects that you should know about and understand.

One  should understand and accept the possibility that there might be marks left on your body that may last between a few weeks and several months, before one decides to undergo cupping therapy.

These marks might have the appearance of circular bruises or discolorations where the cups were applied. There may be discomfort due to the method of skin cuts to the patient. You may feel worse , for  few days following treatment and an increase in pain in certain areas of your body , as it adjusts and recovers.

Other possible side effects include light headedness , which may be similar to the sensation one feels after having had blood taken by a doctor.  As cupping therapy encourages blood flow to the cupped region (hyperaemia) ,one may therefore feel warmer and hotter as a result of vasodilatation ( widening of blood vessels ) taking place and slight sweating may occur.

There is a sound scientific rationale for this and there is no cause to concern.
